*And for those who wonder what in the world a stringer is, it is nothing like a stripper and has nothing to do with a G-string. A stringer is a reporter who works outside of a newspaper office, submits copy and once that copy is printed, cuts it out of the paper, cuts off the headlines, pastes the pieces together in a “string” and sends them to the editor. On the basis of that string, the reporter is paid by the inch.
